About TASA & Our Governance
The Turkish Association of South Australia Inc (TASA) operates under a clear, modernized, and legally ratified Constitution (Rules of Association). As an incorporated non-profit organization in South Australia, our constitution acts as our foundational rulebook, ensuring our operations remain transparent, democratic, and community-focused.
What Our Constitution Covers
Our constitution establishes the structural framework for TASA and guarantees that our community’s best interests come first:
- Core Purpose: Preserving and celebrating Turkish heritage, culture, and language, while fostering community well being and strong cross-cultural friendships within South Australia.
- Membership Rights: Defining pathways for Subscribed (Voting), Life, and General Community Members.
- Democratic Leadership: Setting clear procedures for electing our Management Committee, holding Annual General Meetings (AGMs), and ensuring financial accountability.
- Not-for-Profit Commitment: Guaranteeing that all resources and funds are dedicated entirely to community benefit.
Honoring Our Roots, Built for the Future
TASA was originally founded and established under our initial constitution in 1979. While our core mission to support the Turkish community remains unchanged, our formal constitution was modernized to meet current statutory standards under Consumer and Business Services (CBS).
To ensure TASA stays flexible as our community grows, our constitution is supported by By-laws—operational guidelines that the Committee and members can create and refine over time without being locked into rigid, legacy rules.
